[ad:tech] Advertisers Are Really Excited About Online Video (video)

For eMarketer CEO and co-founder, Geoff Ramsey, here are the main reasons why marketers and advertisers should be excited about online videos:

- Greater measurability, target-ability and share-ability;

- You can do a better job in story telling;

- Internet video is twice as more effective than TV ads;

- Video click-through rates in the U.S. are 3 to 5 times that of standard JPG or GIF ads;

- Versus watching TV, online video viewers are 25% more engaged in TV content and 47% more engaged in the ads (this is not a passive media).


Who’s watching online videos? Middle Age Men

- 78% of men and 65% of women. And over half of the online viewing audience are 35+ years old… even on YouTube!
- Overall, 44% of all internet users watch videos, but 64% of males 25-34 do (they’re the
heavy viewers)

When? In the afternoon, evening

- 5 PM to 8 PM according to Comscore

- 12PM-2 PM for Nielsen

What’s popular? News, funny clips, music videos, movie trailers, TV shows, entertainment news and then user generated content
